If I only had one thing to say to you, this is what it would be: Believe God. Believing God means that we take Him at His Word. If you'll do that, friend, your life will change.

The Christian faith is so much more than religious observance, it's more than having the right answers, it's so much more than belonging to a group or tradition. The Christian faith is a positive encounter with God, Himself. There are cults and other world religions that are religious and zealously believe that they are doing God's will but every cult (Mormonism, Jehovah's Witness), and every other religion (Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, etc.) is occupied with traditions and rituals and umbilical beliefs that try to enter into heaven by another door than the One that God has provided.

Biblical faith is the dynamic, life-changing relationship built on trust in the living God. He speaks and we respond in trust that what He says is true and obedience that His way is better and truer than our own. God loves and and proved His love by sending the Son, Jesus, to secure our redemption--our freedom from the terrible consequences of sin. God created you to be so much more than you probably realize, but the only way to be who God created you to be is to be born again--to have new life through Jesus. God wants you to know the joy of being His child, the power that comes through the indwelling presence of His Holy Spirit, and the peace of knowing that eternal life is given to us by God as a gift.

First Baptist Vernon continues to be a place where lives are changed by the power of the living God. I hope you'll come and experience the New Life God promises us. You have a home at First Baptist church; a diverse community of faith united in love and on mission with God.
