Meet the staff

Senior Pastor Ben Macklin

Ben Macklin, our senior pastor, has been in Vernon since January of 2007. He and his wife, Kim, have three children and are originally from the Austin area. Ben graduated from Texas Tech University in 1988 and was a video producer in private production in Austin and later for the State of Texas. In 1997 he felt the call to ministry and enrolled at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth.

Dr. Macklin received his Masters of Divinity in 2001, and his Ph.D. in Systematic Theology in 2007. He agrees with famous Texas Baptist leader B.H. Carroll in proclaiming that the church is the body of Christ created by Him, and indwelt by His Holy Spirit, to be His continuing physical presence in the world. As such, brother Ben emphasizes the empowerment of the Holy Spirit who is Christ's continuing presence on earth, the equipping of the saints for the work of service, and preaching the gospel to a lost world in desperate need of the redemption of Christ.

Associate Pastor of Education Jeff Lanningham

Jeff and his family have been here in Vernon since August of 2004.  Jeff and his wife Laura have two children, Meredith and Drew.  Jeff is a native of Arlington, Texas. He gradtuated from Baylor in 1990 with a B.A. in Business Administration, and from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1993 with a Master of Arts in Religious Education.

Jeff leads the Sunday morning Bible study program, Journey (our discipleship classes for adults), children's events and more.  Jeff believes in the teaching ministry of the church.  It is when we get involved in a weekly Bible study that we grow in our understanding of God's Word, connect with other believers, and discover ways to minister and share our faith.

Jeff also enjoys doing projects with his wife and spending time with his kids, home remodeling, woodworking, graphic art, and watching the Dallas Cowboys.
